Parent FAQ
How do I register?
All registration is done online through Sports Connect. Please create an online account and add your players. Any programs that your player is eligible for will automatically appear as available for registration. If you have any questions, please contact the registrar at
[email protected]
for assistance.
When is the soccer season?
The main fall season runs from August through mid-November. There is also a spring academy offered that runs from March through May.
How old does my child need to be to play?
Children must be at least 3 years old by July 31st prior to the fall season. Our region can accommodate players up to 16 years of age.
Which program should my child join?
Fall Core: For the majority of players, open to new and returning players, no tryouts required
Extra: For more advanced players, requires selection from attending tryouts
EPIC: For special needs players with physical and/or intellectual disabilities
Which age group is my child?
Starting membership year 2026-2027 (MY2026-2027), AYSO will be transitioning from birth year age groups to school year age groups. For more information, you can visit here:
AYSO Age Determination
.
Can my child play with his/her friend or request a specific coach?
Players in the U6 Division may request to play with one friend (though this is not guaranteed). In order to ensure teams are balanced and fair, we cannot allow players to request specific coaches, coaches to request specific players, or players to request friends. However, a head coach and assistant coach may volunteer to work together to ensure their children are placed on the same team.
Where and when do practices and games take place?
Practices times and locations are on weekdays at the discretion of the coach. The majority of games take place on Saturdays. Field locations vary by age group. Please see our
Fields
page for more information.
Why are some of the fees non-refundable?
The AYSO National Membership fee is charged by the national organization and is not collected by our region. The Blue Sombrero/Sports Connect service fee is automatically applied to each online transaction.
We've signed up! Now what?
Congratulations on registering! You should expect to hear from your coach sometime in mid to late July with practices starting sometime in August. Please make sure you check your email regularly, as email is our primary form of communication.
We have been added to the waitlist. What does that mean?
Most of the time if a player is added to the waitlist, it is become we do not have a sufficient number of coaches in a given age group to accommodate all of the players who are interested. If a coach becomes available, we will move players off the waitlist in the order that they were added. If we are unable to place your player on a team, we will attempt to get you in contact with a neighboring region who may have available space. Once a spot becomes open and you are moved off the waitlist, you have a defined period of time to respond and pay the registration fees. If you are on the waitlist and would like to guarantee that your child can play, please volunteer to coach!
How can my child join Extra?
Extra tryouts are determined by the Extra coordinator and coach and will typically be announced via email from the region or on our Instagram page. Tryouts are commonly held early in the calendar year prior to the upcoming fall season. If you would like more information about the program, you can view the Extra page here:
Extra
. If you have any further questions, you can reach out to the Extra coordinator directly at
[email protected]
.
I'm interested in volunteering but don't know how to referee/coach/etc. How can I get involved?
Our region is 100% run by volunteers and we could use your help! We provide free training and support for any positions you might be interested in. If you are considering joining as a volunteer, please register your interest on our
Volunteer Interest Form
or contact
[email protected]
